Crews Gain Upper Hand On 261-Acre Jack Fire In Badlands | Banning, CA Patch
MORENO VALLEY, CA — A 261-acre brush fire burning in the Badlands between Beaumont and Moreno Valley was almost three-quarters contained Monday.
The "Jack Fire" was reported at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Jack Rabbit Trail and the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
As of 3 p.m. Monday, the brusher was 70% contained, and some resources previously committed to the fire had been released.
There was no word on whether full containment was expected overnight.
No homes or other structures were threatened.
At the height of the blaze, multiple Cal Fire air tankers and water-dropping helicopters were making runs to establish containment lines.
No air tankers were assigned to the brusher on Monday. However, more than 200 personnel from the county, along with municipal and tribal agencies providing mutual aid, were on the fire lines.
The Badlands features undulating terrain, no frontage roads along the 60 and very few houses.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
